Linn DA opposes grand jury recording bill

Oregon has better places to spend $20 million than recording grand jury proceedings in all 36 counties, according to Linn County District Attorney Doug Marteeny.

The issue — which has been debated for decades — has again been brought before the Legislature as Senate Bill 1550. Proponents say recordings would provide defense attorneys with valuable information about the state’s case and offer a check on prosecutors.
