A good use of lottery funds | Opinion

The Oregon Lottery generates more than $1 billion a year for the state, most of it dedicated to education (57 percent) and economic development (27 percent). The Eugene Civic Alliance is asking the Legislature to approve $6 million in lottery bond-backed funds for a project that fits comfortably in both categories: the creation of a sports and recreation complex at the Civic Stadium site. Lawmakers should approve the request.
