Senate panel has one day left to decide fate of bridge bill

The battle over a bill to ban a bridge over the Deschutes River took another sharp twist Wednesday in the state Legislature.

Opposing amendments to House Bill 2027 were introduced just hours before a meeting of the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee. Neither amendment carried a sponsoring lawmakers’ name, but both came with fervent backers for and against.
