Bus bill dodges deadline

Plan for votes on Bend area bus tax moves ahead

A bill to allow the operator of Bend area bus service to seek property taxes to pay for service remains alive in the 2017 legislative session.

House Bill 2745 passed the House 53-7 on Tuesday. The bill would allow the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council to ask voters to approve tax plans to pay for bus service. The council operates Cascades East Transit buses in Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties.
