Wave of eclipse-viewing visitors may inundate state, jam traffic and crimp gas supplies

The roughly 1 million visitors expected to flood into Oregon for the Aug. 21 eclipse are very likely to cause traffic jams, crowded stores and even crimped gas supplies, the Oregon Department of Transportation warned Friday.

Oregonians are used to dealing with large-scale problems: ice storms, floods and forest fires, plus the fear of tsunamis and earthquakes.
