Editorial: Let’s see some cost cutting

Measure 97, the corporate receipts tax voters defeated eight months ago by more than 300,000 votes, is not dead. The Oregon Education Association is preparing an initiative petition that would impose a similar 0.95 percent gross receipts tax on companies with sales of $5 million or more. At the same time, lawmakers are looking at a similar tax that would be tiered, hitting some business sectors harder than others.
