DEQ fines two Eugene businesses for stormwater violations

Two Eugene businesses face fines from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality for allegedly violating stormwater pollution rules.

The DEQ fined Oregon Ice Cream $36,171, saying the Washington-based ice cream maker failed to implement a plan to address zinc, copper and suspended solids in the stormwater at its ice cream plant at Grant Street and West Broadway in west Eugene. The stormwater drains into Amazon Creek.
