A week or so ago, we noted in an editorial that Gov. Kate Brown had narrowed down her list of “must-do” items for the Legislature — and that a big transportation bill was on the short list.
Tax reform? Not so much, at the time. Brown in the past has argued that the Legislature should patch together a budget for the next two years, and hold off on major tax reform. In particular, it seemed to us essential that the Legislature move forward on the transportation bill, especially considering its high-profile failure to do so in the 2015 session.
