Editorial: Compromise boosts work-schedule bill

Just when you’ve lost all faith in the Oregon Legislature’s ability to deal with contentious issues, along comes an example to demonstrate that compromise still is possible, if people are willing to keep plugging away.

Last week, the Oregon Senate passed a bill that would make the state the first in the nation to mandate work-schedule predictability for certain businesses. The bill, Senate Bill 828, passed on a 23-6 vote and now moves to the House.
