Editorial: Don’t subvert the power of voters

The Democratic Senate Majority Office is apparently planning to subvert the ability of Oregonians to challenge any bill that passes this session. It’s a disgraceful maneuver to manipulate the system and suppress the will of voters.

Oregon’s Constitution grants voters a special check on legislative power: The people can challenge a law before it goes into effect. If Oregonians don’t like what the Legislature and governor have approved, they can gather signatures to refer that matter to the ballot for a referendum.
