Tentative agreement rolls back big increase.

At a time when inflation is in the 2 percent range and incomes are rising at about the same rate, a 6.56 percent increase in tuition for in-state students at the University of Oregon is nothing to cheer about. But it’s a big improvement over the 10.6 percent hike approved by the UO’s Board of Trustees and the Higher Education Coordinating Committee. What’s more, the possibility of a rollback comes attached to a new means of encouraging Oregon’s universities to keep tuition increases under control.
