Oregon hospitals operating on slim margins

St. Charles financial troubles not isolated.

It’s not just Central Oregon. Hospital finances were turbulent statewide at the end of 2016, according to a new report, and the trend has continued into this year.

Oregon’s median hospital operating margin was minus 0.1 percent — a net loss — in the fourth quarter of 2016 compared with 2.6 percent at the same time in 2015, according to a new report from the Oregon Health Authority.
