Planning, not panic, needed to enjoy August’s solar eclipse

“Arrive early, stay put, leave late.”

That’s the state’s unofficial message to folks planning to view the Aug. 21 solar eclipse.

This week, the Oregon Department of Transportation doubled down on its efforts to warn the public that it’s unlikely anyone will be able to “bop down from Portland, view the eclipse and head home.”
