Just let us pump our own gas already (Guest opinion)

While 24-hour self-service fueling was recently made legal in certain Oregon counties, this right should be extended to drivers throughout the state. As well intended as the original prohibition may have been when it was passed in 1951, it’s time we accept that those qualified to drive a car are also qualified to pump gas into it. Only two states generally prohibit self-service fueling (New Jersey is the other), meaning 96 percent of Americans live in a jurisdiction affording this freedom. For a state of trailblazers, Oregon is lagging pretty far behind.
