Editorial: Oregon should push ahead with sports betting

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision Monday overturning the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act approved in 1992 doesn’t mean much in Oregon. That said, you can expect a return of sports betting by the 2020-21 fiscal year, and the state could expand sports betting into other areas.

The 1992 law barred state-run sports gambling, with exceptions. Oregon, Delaware and Montana, which had limited sports betting at the time, were allowed to keep what they had under the law.
