Mother relives horrors of her daughter’s death after deadly suspected DUII crash

Lorelei Weber’s daughter Kayla was killed by a drunken driver and she says the triple-fatal crash in Salem, also involving a suspected drunken driver, is a sign Oregon needs tougher penalties for drunken driving.

“Oregon is falling behind because they’re one of 12 states that doesn’t allow for law enforcement to perform sobriety checkpoints. And sobriety checkpoints are a constitutionally protected option that can reduce drunk driving deaths by 20 percent,” said Frank Harris, MADD director of state government affairs.
