Tax surplus kickers will be refunded with tax credits

You’re getting a tax surplus kicker but it’s showing up in your taxes, not your mailbox.

A $1.5 billion tax surplus confirmed earlier this month by the Office of Economic Analysis triggered a tax surplus credit, or kicker, for the 2018 tax year. The surplus will be returned to taxpayers through a credit on their 2019 state personal income tax returns to be filed in 2020.
