Local experts react to Instagram suicide and self-harm content ban

The social media platform Instagram announced last week plans to expand its ban on images depicting suicide and self-harm. While the social media company previously banned content that encourages or promotes self-harm and suicide, it now will prohibit fictional depictions as well.

Some local experts in teen mental health are celebrating any step in the right direction but argue the best kind of limitations are manual, while others call the decisions haphazard at best.
