Editorial: Derailed campaign-finance reform measures need court’s help
Voters in 2020 overwhelmingly supported a ballot measure to allow limits on campaign contributions. Passage of the constitutional amendment, with 78% approval, showed once again Oregonians’ determination to diminish the outsized power of big money in Oregon elections.However, legislators didn’t hold up their end of the bargain, failing to pass laws that would establish what those donation limits – including to their own campaigns – would be.
