School visitors must pass background check

Individuals visiting any of the schools within the Vale School District must now pass an annual background check and parents or guardians can no longer take photos of students other than their own.

The Oregon Legislature passed a bill last session implementing background checks for volunteers at schools throughout Oregon, and in response, Vale School District updated its protocols regarding, not just volunteers, but visitors, too — a move that has some Vale parents expressing concern.
