Long Bend Fire near Maupin 60% contained, boaters warned

The 1,024-acre Long Bend Fire burning two miles from the town of Maupin in Wasco County is winding down. Containment on the fire increased to 60% as of Wednesday.

Wildland firefighters are working to extinguish heat sources within the fire perimeter, Central Oregon Fire Management Service said in a news release. Crews are also patrolling the flanks of the fire.
