Oregon Legislature to consider bill allowing payments to NCAA college athletes

Student-athletes at colleges and universities in Oregon could soon be allowed to profit from their name, image and likeness under a bill expected to be brought up for consideration during the 2020 Oregon legislative session.

Senate President Peter Courtney, D-Salem, plans to introduce a bill that would cut student athletes in on the multi-billion dollar college athletics industry.

Under the current amateurism model, players are not allowed to participate in NCAA games if they receive payments.
