Amtrak Derailment | Portland’s Internet History | Native American Doctors – OPB’s Think Out Loud

Multiple casualties were reported when an Amtrak train derailed onto Interstate 5 south of Tacoma on Monday morning. The train was the first to travel a recently opened route of service. OPB’s Southwest Washington reporter Molly Solomon gives us the latest details on the derailment.

Many Oregonians have been fighting for net neutrality before the phrase was ever coined. In 1998, Portland became one of the first cities to argue in support of “Open Access.” David Olson, the former Cable Director for the City of Portland, joins us to discuss Portland’s unique internet history.

OHSU is establishing the Northwest Native American Center of Excellence with a $3.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program hopes to increase the Native American voice in the U.S health professions workforce.
